I put a £10 Callaway Fairway wood to the test to see if there is any use for it in 2019 with all the new technology out there.

There was an old Titleist 975 F 3w with an S300 shaft at my local shop that I seriously considered putting in the bag. I could destroy that thing.
Simon, can you do a video testing the Taylormade Aeroburner driver against a newer TaylorMade driver?
How about an early tour edge xcg fairway wood? And yes, compare!
A lot of golfers still have original Steelheads in their bags here in the States. I have two, with the original graphite shafts, in mine. They’re classic. And you’re right, size-wise they’re closer to a hybrid than a contemporary fairway wood, making them ideal rescue clubs. (BTW, I got mine for $10 each at a second-hand sports store.)
Question is will you put it in the bag?
Simon I would upgrade to the Callaway Steelhead III uniflex shaft 3 and 5 wood (you might need to stretch to £20 each), which I still have in the bag alongside my TM M1 and P790’s; I haven’t found anything better yet…prove me wrong.
Steelheads were great woods back in the day, and it is still largely the Indian not the arrow!
Thanks for watching Guys! So who’s going to get one?! haha
It is a 90’s club Simon. Had one back in the day. Great club and could use it out of the rough as you say.
Try using some older golf balls off the tee with that!
Got one of these in a 5 wood – it was passed down by my dad; love taking it for a hit at the range every now and then – can’t beat the sound when you flush one!
I want the 5w, 3w and driver!
Re shaft with a 80g graphite shaft… Game it
I had a BB 3Wood back in my youth and it was probably the best 3Wood I have ever used. When Teed up low it was longer than my Driver!
TM bubble shaft burner driver/3w next, pls.
just shows things have gotten lighter XD we are all week now in the arms now
ha ha I had one of these up until last year because I couldn’t really hit a 3 wood so just used an old one from an old set that was in my shed barely used it but when i did it would fly hit a bad drive on a par 5 one day whipped this bad boy out and crushed it left me a chip onto the green and missed an eagle by inches, I’ve since changed to a newer m2 3 wood its easier to hit but I think it’s only easier due to the better process that I use to hit the ball but haven’t had any memorable shots with the m2 yet
I had the original warbird 3 wood, haven’t hit a 3 wood as consistently as that in years
